Somers & Hervey is designed to blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings:
Shared Spaces: Over 16 hectares of landscaped streets, parks, trails, and play areas have been thoughtfully designed to foster connection, encourage outdoor living, and create a strong sense of community.
Sustainable Design: Homesites are positioned to take full advantage of mountain views and cooling breezes. Design guidelines promote climate-responsive architecture that complements the tropical lifestyle and enhances energy efficiency.
Environmental Harmony: Environmental conservation and wetland zones preserve local wetlands and wildlife, ensuring a sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyle for generations to come.
Long-Term Potential: As Townsville’s southwest continues to grow, so does the value of living here. Future enhancements — including proposed bus stops and a community centre — will add to local convenience and lifestyle appeal, supporting long-term growth and connectivity.

Honoring Pioneering Explorers
Somers & Hervey is named after two free-spirited explorers and early settlers in the region: Philip Somers and Matthew Hervey. Philip Somers joined Alan Cunningham’s botanical expeditions along Australia’s east coast and named Hervey Range in 1861 after his co-owner of Dotswood station.
The Hervey name has become synonymous with Townsville’s south-west. We felt it was about time to celebrate the original gesture by Philip Somers, and bring the names together to create Somers & Hervey.
Come, be a part of the adventurous spirit at Somers & Hervey, where community and nature intertwine to create a truly exceptional living experience.
